Finally feel like we are getting somewhere! Been painting for a while with not major breaks and I think the next couple guys will be pretty cool. Did this for an erotic art show, not stoked on the grass, would have liked to had time to put in some insects but just over the whole painting at this point. Angie, my wife is the model.....

Squeezed this out of a new tube of Cad Orange..... I consider it a fortuitous omen for sure. I have been trying to take better care of my pallet lately, keeping it as clean as possible, w/o wasting paint.... Next pallet I make will last much longer I think -learn as you go!

The photo doesn't do it justice, Jabba is more prevalent and there is a staircase and door in the upper right corner.... This was for the Hope Gallery Star Wars show, painted in about 3 weeks, everything else went on hold. I was trying to mimic the Elvgren-ish style of pinup... feeling like I am at least progressing in my technical skills, though in hindsight the pose is a little rigid....

Cover for VitaMN weekly mag.... I have been busy lately, not alot of posts going up.... I will post the watercolor of this to give a little idea of the foundation of illustration. I was honestly amazed at how good the printing was.... I didnt think they would be able to pull it off. Extremely stressful, but worth every second..... I might do prints.... did I mention that I have prints for sale of most of my illustrations...?

It has been a while since I posted, so I gotta get something out there! Some oils in the works, some watercolors, but mostly alot of COD WAW..... nerd. This is a poster for a show in August for one of our favorite bands, it was done by my friend Brandon and I. We sketched back and forth, then started inking on opposite sides, working on each others inking as we went along.... it was a very envigorating experience for sure! Finished the inking in a couple hours! I colored it in photoshop and we will be having Steve from Squad 19 printing it.... sooooo sweet. Not sure how many will be printed but under 50 for sure..... :)

I am starting a new painting, but realize I need to finish some of the stragglers. I am really stoked on this painting, no model used for the figure, probably should have, but such is life. In oil paint, I started this on tuesday morning, this week. It is pretty big, about 1.5' by 2.5' it seems much bigger.... Feel like I am slowly working towards a system that will work for me. I didnt realize how much paint you need to cover a space like this! And cleaning large brushes.... no bueno.

I love oil paint, it takes a while for my body and brain to become acclimated to the turpentine, but I am in full on paint mode. I guess I will see how long I can ride this wave till I find something else to obsess over. They are all in varying degrees of completion, some closer than others, so please do not judge too harshly..... the model in two of these is my son, FYI.

This is from a drawing I did like 4 months ago, before the Mcad class, just wanted to have something new to show... havent worked on it in forever, the halo is kind of weak and the ribs are not how I wanted them but, what can ya do.... it isnt oil paint so I guess I have to slog on through. I think I will go with simple color scheme, just the flowers and maybe the sky and leave it at that, maybe just the flowers so it can be done..... I didnt think that anyone looked at this page, but in the last week I have had three people mention it, which made me happy.

On Tuesday nights we get together and paint and draw... my buddy Brandon and I painted these in gouache on pieces of cedar I grabbed from my neighbors garbage. I painted the devil and brandon painted the awesome catfish. It is very fun to paint with gouache, part watercolors, part acrylic, part oils..... fun medium and always available.

This painting is taking about 4 times longer than I imagined, I learned that non Arches watercolor paper is shit..... Part of a possible series. Lamb of the apocalypse, multiple horns, etc.. Unfinished but looking cool anyways. Did I mention that civilization is crumbling away? Got a little further, am distracted by new paintings, so, hope is the dream of unfinished artwork.

Working on a painting of a zombie head.... I feel like the zombie apocalypse is right around the corner.... I read World War Z, Day by Day Armageddon and Walking Dead - I am living inside a zombie fantasy and think that a painting is due that reflects that.... unfinished, but I felt like I just had to post it.... see the burned out city below? Should I make it Mpls?

I survived the run, it was beautiful.... experienced the most amazing runners high ever. Really. Total euphoria.
Last week I helped at my friend Lindsay's class at MCAD, it was interesting, I finished this painting, start to finish in about 1.5 hours while giving a demo on spit shading and the use of walnut ink. I don't think many of them got anything out of it, but oh well it was fun anyways.

After a brisk run this morning around 9:30, much to my amazement I saw the most beautiful butterfly/moth I have seen in a while. I stood there or about 5 minutes, pouring sweat (from running) waiting to take a pic with its wings spread. I will post more France photos as time permits and I remember. There are so many amazing animals and plants in the city if you just take a minute to look.

Well, we made it back to the good ol' USA and I figure I better start doing this again before I forget where we went and what we did! Here are some more photos of the abby at the top of Mt. St. Michelle, they give you a sense of the size of the cathedral. The picture of Angie is in the lower level, there are three levels of vaulted ceilings! The pic of the outside has the pulley track that they brought food inside when it was a prison...

After Mt St Michelle, we stayed in the Ancient Walled City of Dinan, our B&B was located in the old quarter, with very narrow streets and a ridiculously steep hill. I am posting a pic of the view from our window and well, I am dead tired since this internet is really pissing me off! The scenery is great and I hope to post some more pics. These photos are from Dinan and St. Malo, the Pirate Island.

France!

Today is our 4th day (I think) of our trip to France. The first day was a little hairy, as having slept only 3-4 hours, we drove another 4 hours to our first stop, Mt. St. Michel. It is a medieval town (well actually it has been an abby for about 1000 years originally founded by the romans!) that is one of the most amazing places I have ever been. Layers upon layers of vaulted ceilings, it was like being in a videogame, with little passageways the lead to who knows where. We stayed in a hotel on the island, which was also really beautiful, waking up and being is such a wonderful place. I have an internet connection that must be a dialup that is shared on a 802.11b wireless router.... soooooo slow! So we will see how much story I get here, but this is where I am going to be posting all our exploits when I have access. I am going to try and not answer any personal emails so please noone be offended.... until we get back. So far I have eaten some amazing food, I even had an escargot in the shell.... :P We are drinking wine every night (except when we drank cider) and I am doing some great runs through the cities. The weather has been horseshit, it is beautiful in the morning, shitty all day (raining when we are out running around, thank god for the new rain coats!) and beautiful in the evening, as we head back to our lodging.
